Ford fan gutted as Holden wins

IF YELLING at the television could make a V8 Supercar drive faster, Sonya Rose would be celebrating today.

The gutted Ford supporter felt the full brunt of Holden's force while watching the nail-biting end of the Bathurst 1000 race at Maroochydore's Duporth Tavern yesterday.

Holden pair Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell won the championship race, holding off a fast finish by Ford youngster David Reynolds.

Ms Rose paced the tavern as the last legs of the race played out, cheering her beloved blue and white to the end.

"We were so close. I wanted Ford to finish first so bad," she said.

The devoted fan rubbed shoulders with a gang of Holden fans, all more than willing to pinch the losing nerve as the race came to a thrilling end.

Proud of her Ford singlet and flag, Ms Rose said next year her team would win the championship.

"I have been watching this race since I was three months old," she said.

"Frosty (Mark Winterbottom), he will get it next year. Him or Will Davidson."
